I have very little information about my HOPKINS. Perhaps someone has a little bit more. William HOPKINS married Joann ARNOLD c. ?1610 England?. That is all I have on them. They had at least two children: Thomas HOPKINS born 7 Apr 1616 England Frances HOPKINS born 28 May 1614 married William MAN. William was a proprietor of Providence, RI and signed the first compact of 1640 (whatever that is). Frances complained to the Council that the overseers of her late husband's will were "negligent in their attention to it." This complaint was presented the 27th of the 11th month 1650, showing that his death occurred at an earlier date. Frances and William had Mary MAN/MANN who married John LAPHAM. Any additions to this sparse information would be very gratefully received.

I am looking for information on Thomas ANGELL, who came to Providence County Rhode Island as Roger William's servant. Thomas was born in Liverpool,England in May, 1618, and landed in Boston on the ship Lyon on feb 5,1631. I think his dad was James ANGELL and his mother was Mary HONEYCHURCH. He married Alice ASHTON April 10, 1643, and had eight kids. I am the descendent of his oldest son John, born in 1646. I can pretty much trace everyone from there down to my father, Jesse Walter ANGELL. I am curious about him because he undertook such a long journey at such a young age.

I am researching the family of Patrick MURPHY b 1840, Ireland and Jane DUFFY MURPHY b 1837, England. They moved to Cumberland, Providence Co. somewhere around 1869. I know of 7 children out of 14. They are Mary Jane, md Matthew SWEENEY, Catharine b 1864 England, William H. b1865, became a priest, d 1865 in Ill.,Michael b1868 England, Bridget b 1869 Cumberland RI md Arthur SULLIVAN, Winifred Agnes b 1871 in Cumberland d 1943 in Ill., and Margaret b 1874, Cumberland. The other 7 children all died before Jane (the mother) who d 26 Nov 1893. My aunt told me all of this and that Patrick and Jane were buried in Lonsdale. I went to Lonsdale a week ago and ther are no cemeteries there. I also thought that Winifred was born in Lonsdale but I found them on an 1865 census that says Cumberland. Their jobs were cardgrinder, weaver, sweeper so I wondered if they might have worked in a mill maybe in Arnold Mills. Any help, thoughts or info on any of this would be appreciated. Thanks, Winifred
