DENAGE, DENNIS posted by Susan Winters on Friday, August 7, 1998

DENAGE / DENNIS, Peter. I am looking for information on where I could find an Orphanage located in the city of Providence abt 1800. My ancestor and his sister were orphaned on the island of Santo Domingo at that time, and they were brought to Providence by the captain of a ship. If possible I would like to find these records. Peter was naturalized in 1818 and the surname DENAGE was corrupted to DENNIS. Information on how/where I would get a copy of this naturalization from Providence would also be appreciated. Thank you.

Looking for information on Alfred SCHLERATH, my grandfather. He was born in Providence RI between 1891 -1895. He had two sisters Dorothy SCHLERATH and Rose SCHLERATH. His parents were Alfred SCHLERATH and Rose GIFFORD SCHLERATH. Alfred Senior was killed in New York City in a scaffolding accident and Rose was killed on a ferry boat on Lake Ontario. The children were then sent to Troy, NY to an orphanage until adulthood. I am fairly sure that Alfred Senior is buried somewhere in the Providence area. Anyone with information regarding the family would be greatly appreciated.
