Looking for information on Stephen GOODSPEED and family from Smithfield, Providence Co., R.I., who was living in Edmeston, Otsego Co., NY in 1830. He was born about 1776. His wife's name might have been Irana (close as I can come from census spelling). Also looking for Isaac GOODSPEED born 1777 and wife, Elizabeth, born 1772. Isaac may be a brother to Stephen; both living near each other in Otsego Co., NY in 1830. Trying to find parents of both men. Have genealogy from Isaac GOODSPEED on down to share.

HARRIS Family: I am a descendent of Lenora HARRIS (1848-1930), daughter of Orman HARRIS (1824-1853) of Jenckes HARRIS (1786-1855) of Robert HARRIS (1758-1824), all of Smithfield, R.I. I am looking for information on Lenora's brother, Landolina, and his descendents. I am also trying to find information on Orman's siblings (Jenckes HARRIS' children): Gilbert (1813-1888), Evaline (1816-?), Orin, Jenckes Jr., Census (1850-?), and Rachel (~1815-1822). If you are researching this family or know additional information, please contact me. Thank you.

SMITH Family: I am a descendent of Jencks SMITH (1837-1910), the twin brother of George SMITH (1837-1908), both of Greenville, R.I. After research, I have found that the father of the SMITH twin brothers was Thomas SMITH (?-1878), the son of Thomas and Sarah SMITH. Thomas SMITH and his father Thomas were both wheelrights in Smithfield, R.I. The younger Thomas SMITH married Elsa RICHARDSON on May 2, 1844 after the twins were born. The twins were raised by their mother, Delilah ? (1807?-1875), who married William F. WATERMAN (1802?-1862), who raised the twins as a stepfather. I am interested in all of the descendents of George SMITH (I know of George Jr., Carrie Chilson, Edna Frances, and Emily Green). I am also trying to get more information on Thomas and Elsa SMITH and especially Thomas and Sarah SMITH. If you are researching these families or know additional information, please let me know. Thank you.

YOUNG Family: Col. Junia YOUNG was born April 17, 1773 in northern R.I. and died Dec. 25, 1847 in Scituate, R.I. Junia was a state militia officer, farmer, and justice of the peace. His mother was Ruth (?), who married Capt. Benjamin BROWN (1751?-1787) of Cumberland, R.I. Ruth and Benjamin had no children; Benjamin was Junia's stepfather. Benjamin was the son of Benjamin BROWN (1721-1770) of the John BROWNE of Wannamoisett Family. Ruth was born May 13, 1753 and died September 20, 1829 in Scituate. The father of Junia has been problematic. Based on the YOUNG section in Dean Crawford Smith's 1993 Emily Jane Angell genealogy, I believe the father may have been Zebedee YOUNG , a son of James YOUNG of Smithfield. Zebedee had not married by the time Junia was conceived in 1772. I am interested in Ruth's maiden name and in finding Junia's father. Was Capt. Benjamin BROWN a soldier or mariner? If you have any additional information or are researching this particular YOUNG family, please contact me. Thank you.

I am a resident of Scranton, Pennsylvania who is trying to determine whether my forebear, Stephen WHITMAN of Abington, Pa. (Bailey Hollow) is the 1800 son of Stephen WHITMAN of Smithfield, R.I. and his wife, Lucretia KENYON WHITMAN. Stephen and Lucretia were married on June 9, 1774 and Stephen served in the American Revolution. I have been searching for quite some time now for information concerning Stephen and Lucretia's children, but to no avail. If anyone out there, but particularly in Rhode Island knows the answer to my mystery, please contact me. I have been in touch with the PA. Historical Society in Philadelphia as well as the R.I. State Archives for help. Stephen came to Pennsylvania sometime around 1815 with Aaron Wight of Scituate, and then Coventry, R.I. They were members of the Six Principle Baptist religion. Any help would be appreciated..
