BIRDSAL, DRACK, FROST, GORDENER, HORTON, MERETT, RICH, WRIGHT posted by M. Bromley on Wednesday, September 1, 2004

Think about this: you have an 18th century shoemakers handwritten financial ledger of all transactions. This query is not about finding any roots in MY family, rather trying to find out who this man was and what area they all came from. If it helps anyone in the process...great. If you have any suggestions on how to preserve this ledger, assistance in deciphering some of the names, lets go with it. If these folks had anything in common, they lived together as a small community. This ledger resides in RI, but necessarily mean it originated here. Here's some dates, names (some as best I can decipher): HORTON, Daniel - many purchases for shoes and boots. HORTON, Joseph RICH, Jacob RICH, Joseph WRIGHT, Daniel GORDENER, Horamonas MERETT, Debrah FROST, Sarah DRACK, Peter BIRDSAL, Daniel ...so where would you start? I'd like to find out what town these people had in common, and who the author was.

DAVIS, GREENE, HARRIS, OTIS, WHITEHURST posted by Helen Greene Davis on Friday, September 17, 2004

I am looking for any information on Abbie HARRIS GREENE (DAVIS) and her relatives and ancestors. Died around 1953 in NY State, D.O.B. unknown but possibly before the Civil War. Married to William D. DAVIS date and place unknown. She is in some way related to Charles HARRIS GREENE, who may be a brother or father. Captian Charles HARRIS GREENE was born in Woonsocket Feb. 14, 1839 or so. I am also interested in information on Paul WHITEHURST GREENE, probably born around 1870 and probably in Providence County and died after 1920; as well as information on Sarah OTIS HARRIS, alive and adult by 1816, in Providence. I need to know how these people relate to each other and where to look for ancestors of both the GREENEs and the HARRISes. I found reference to a Paul and an Abby as sibs of Charles, but the dates are all wrong and besides they died in infancy. I think I am missing a generation here. Thanks for any and all leads.

HOPKINS, RHODES, TUCKER posted by Iris H. Seyfried on Monday, September 20, 2004

TUCKER - father Joseph TUCKER had Joseph, Jr. and Mary HOPKINS - Joseph HOPKINS father of Jonah. Jonah married Mary TUCKER in Scituate, RI in 1778. RHODES - Martha RHODES married both Joseph TUCKER and Joseph HOPKINS. I am descended from all 3 families. Can anybody make the connection of Martha with the correct RHODES family? Who are the TUCKER's?

ARNOLD, CADWALLADR, HOPKINS, RHODES, TUCKER posted by Iris H. Seyfried on Friday, September 24, 2004

Jonah HOPKINS married Mary TUCKER (b. 15 Aug 1760) on 18 Mar. 1778 in Scituate, Providence, RI. His father was Joseph HOPKINS, and hers was Joseph TUCKER. My sisters' records show Martha RHODES as mother to both Jonah and Mary, which is impossible; because a man can't marry his half sister. Martha Rhodes was married in turn to both Joseph TUCKER and Joseph HOPKINS. Of whom was Martha the mother and who were her people? I have the HOPKINS / ARNOLD line back to Scotland and the Welsh king CADWALLADR.
